2019 January - 2019 April

Short Film

Collaborated with David Kramaric and Andreas Papamichael

"Fragility", Edinburgh Science Festival, Edinburgh, UK

No matter where we come from, most of us share our thoughts and opinions with beloved ones through phone calls. We talk about serious issue, personal feeling, or sometimes just daily trivia. These matters happened everywhere at even this moment, despite they might seem irrelevant with each other.

Meanwhile is about three phone calls made by three people who came from three different places but are currently living in Edinburgh: Hsin from Taiwan, David from Croatia and Andreas from Cyprus. The film follows three different layers of fragility – one that is present in human personal domain, other that has social and political implications and third which introduces geopolitical environmental issues.

By taking place at the meadow, their individual stories are connected through walking and crossing on their daily pathway. Specific family relations, immigrant crisis and fossil fuel extraction are portrayed through an everyday media – a phone call between protagonists and their family members that acts as an instant connection between them, but also articulates local stories on a global level. Three stories from different countries, personal and non personal, eventually merge into single themed narrative that everyone can identify with, in a global perspective of how everything is connected in a fragile world. No matter where we come from, most of us share our thoughts and opinions with beloved ones through phone calls. We talk about serious issue, personal feeling, or sometimes just daily trivia. These matters happened everywhere at even this moment, despite they might seem irrelevant with each other.
